Department Historical Regimes of Normativity
Deadline: 15 September 2026
Our department will award scholarships for research stays of three or six months, starting on 1 April 2027 / 1 July 2027 / 1 October 2027 / 4 January 2028. Applications are open to PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and senior scholars.
We especially welcome projects that explore the role of different forms of knowledge in the production of law and normativity. This includes, but is not limited to, legal knowledge, spiritual and religious knowledge, practical knowledge, technical expertise, emotions, experiences and other epistemic forms that shape normative practices and institutions.
In particular, we encourage applications from scholars working on:
- Vernacular, indigenous, local and traditional forms of knowledge;
- The shaping of transnational legal regimes;
- Knowledge-historical approaches to global legal history.
Scholarship holders are expected to contribute at least one article to our department blog, Legal History Insights, during their stay.
Applications must be submitted via our online application system by 15 September 2026.
